UKBD TIMES DESK:
“I don’t want to be a campaigning father any longer, I want to go back to being a normal husband and father, with my daughter and wife by my side” — Richard Ratcliffe, husband of Nazanin .
You might have heard about Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe in the news over the past week.
She’s a British Iranian charity worker who was arrested on her way back from a family holiday to Iran. Nazanin has been in jail in Tehran for 19 months, for reasons that have not been made clear to her family.
Her husband Richard says his wife is being used as a political pawn between Iranian and UK governments , and he has been campaigning day and night for her release.
This week the Foreign Office has been criticised for not doing enough to bring Nazanin home and putting her at risk of further charges through making incorrect comments about her case. Her family believe that Nazanin’s health is quickly deteriorating as a result of the stress and she can’t handle any more time in jail.
Over one million people around the world have signed Richard’s petition for the British Government to do everything they can to bring Nazanin home –.
Richard hopes now that the spotlight is on Nazanin, if the public keep up the pressure, he might get his wife home by Christmas.
