Awami League Government in Bangladesh ruling the country in an autocratic way. They are violating basic human rights, suppressing differing opinions, and silencing political rivals. Numerous political rivals of the Awami League have been imprisoned, killed, and harassed by the controlling party law enforcement. This is inhumane and challenges the basic fundamentals of democracy.
Bangladeshi native Epon Ahmed Chowdhury, currently residing in England said that while speaking to the media at the the Bengali Nationalist Party in the United Kingdom.
Epon Ahmed Chowdhury was once a very active member in the Bengali Nationalist Party (BNP). Starting off as a regular grassroots worker in the border area of Jakigong Sylhet. He quickly rose within the organization becoming a rising political star within the BNP. After the Awami League took control of the government, Epon Chowdhury, along with other members of the BNP party, were harassed by law enforcement and the Government Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). These law enforcement organizations illegally raided his properties in order to capture him. From the Criminal Court, arrest warrants were issued against Epon Chowdhury, using false allegations. Like numerous other BNP activists, Epon Ahmed Chowdhury, fled from the country in fear of his safety.
While he spoke to the media, BNP activist, Epon Ahmed Chowdhury said,
My leader, Ziaur Rahman united the divided country and gave his nineteen points of progress for the future of the country. BNP, holding the ideology of Ziaur Rahman, became a symbol of hope for the divided people of the country. With the help of the army and foreign brothers, Awami League is on a continued mission to eliminate the BNP from Bangladesh. The Awami League government continues to harass our great leader Khaleda Zia, Tarek Zia, and others. Prominent leader, Illias Ali and many others have mysteriously disappeared under the Awami League control. Everyday law enforcement and RAB is harassing the BNP from all corners of Bangladesh. There is no allowed forum for the opposition to publicly voice their concerns and opinions.
Epon Ahmed, while speaking to the reporters, showed his concern for his party and comrades in Bangladesh. Besides the fear for his own life, he is vocal that this tyranny cannot continue. He said that the nineteen points of late Ziaur Rahman is the hope of the people of Bangladesh. Despite fears and opposition, we will continue to fight for the hope of our people and the hope of a more
